Familiar Patterns

A digital photography series, Fall 2007

Familiar Patterns serves as a way to express my relationship with the home in which I was raised. Although beautiful, the accentuated and sometimes antiquated patterns of the wallpaper, rugs, and curtains lend an oppressiveness to the figure's surroundings and serve as a metaphor for my feelings of returning home.

Although autobiographical content is a common characteristic of my photographs, my hope is that the viewer will relate to this series' semi-obscured figure through the context of his own experiences.
